Years ago I was keeping my snakes (had only two at that time) in wooden boxes with a lid with a mesh. My dogs for some reason broke the mesh of one of the boxes and one of the ball pythons escaped. I only found out the next morning. I looked all over the backyard (a pretty large one) without any success. Then one of my neighbors told my wife not to get close to his care because there was a snake in his car; the guy was VERY scared! (They didn't know we kept snakes). The snake had found her way under the hood and was tightly wrapped wrapped around the engine. I got it out but either the neighbor had started the car or the engine was very hot when the snake got in and the snake suffered extensive burns. Even after taking it to the vet and treating the burns it didn't survive. I advise to try everything to find the snake and NOT TO START THE ENGINE!!!! you might end up with a badly burned snake in your hands!
