Dr Klingenberg in his Understanding Reptile Parasites book states that tapeworms can cause secondary malnutrition, inflammation and enteritis due to mechanical irritation, and actual mechanical obstruction, although few symptoms are associated with tapeworms. They are treated with praziquantel at 5mg/kg. They have an indirect lifestyle so I would imagine after a lengthy quarantine that there is little risk of spreading to others. To prevent further infection, you can try freezing any live food items for at least 30 days. ----- ...the oldest task in human history: to live on a piece of land without spoiling it."
