In a recent unexpected trip to Puerto Rico, we decide to visit the northeast part of the island to do some field herping .

You can appreciate the beautiful Mogotes covering the road........

More Mogotes... The forecast was ideal but the humidity level was brutal......

Nice canopy.......

Here is the driver......Joel......He can get a bit crazy when driving "El General"....a 1972 Jeep Wrangler....

Here is the passenger.....Me....aka... Orlando

We were located at a high altitude (1200 ft of elevation) by looking at the top of the other mountain.....

Here is the mouth of one of the caves that we visit. Surrounding the cave is where most of the Puerto Rican boas (Epicrates inornatus) tend to bask (1:30 to 3:30 pm). At dusk they move at the mouth of the cave waiting for bats to come out and pray on them.

Here is another pic from the cave.....

Two Adults Puerto Rican Boa in a resting position.....

Another one.....

I couldn't resist .....

A beautiful picture taking at night....You can appreciate the interaction between the boas and bats....

A beautiful close up picture of Alsophis portoricensis portoricensis. It is the most widely distributed subspecies on mainland Puerto Rico.

Thanks for looking!!

Orlando...

Hey.....Tom....I will bring the male to the Daytona show next weekend...
