If you can find a place that allows it, tell them. It's much less stressful when they have to come in for repairs, etc if you are up front with them. Of course the apt I'm in now allows cats and my cat deposit was also applied to the snakes. They were very cool about it when I explained what type of caging I use and how secure they would be.

Before I moved in here, I was really worried about finding a place. I knew wherever I applied, they would contact my previous apt, who found the snakes and kind of kicked me out (made me choose between staying and keeping the snakes). Because I also have cats, I did have to look for pet-friendly housing. Every place I looked at was perfectly fine with the snakes when I brought it up. The worst case was that one building said I would have to get renters insurance in case something happened.

>>I have had 2 apt and kept my snakes in both with the landlords full knowlage of my having them.

>>Just ask if "tank" pets are allowed. If they say yes, then tell them they are snakes. As long as the tanks are secure then there shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>I say it is better to be up front about it. If they find out you were hiding them they may cause a big stink and demand that you get rid of them. I didn't have any real trouble getting my landlords to accept the snakes, even if my curent one does not care for them (his wife gets creeped out) he gave me permission and cant take it back and say get rid of them.
