My 08 male tricolor will eat just about anything I give him (or don't give him). He has a very strong feeding response and when foods around you better watch your fingers. He is noramly fed mice but he once crawled out of his tub durin feeding and tried to eat a hopper rat(he was only about 13" then) so now rats are apart of his diet too. Also the other day he crawled out of his feeding tub again and ate a fish fillet that I had out for my garter snake! I'm not sure how healthy that is for a hognose but he went to the fish before he went too the pinky which was next to it so he must've really liked it. Hes even shown interest in worms although I've never given him any.



The problem is though i've read in just about every tricolor care sheet that they need their diet suppilmented with amphbians so they don't get a fatty liver and die young. To my shock though he shows no interest in any amphbians that are offered to him including toads, frogs,and salamanders(although my garters don't have a problem with that lol). Nothing! And I find that very odd in an animal that specializes in eating amphibans. Any though on getting him to eat them or is there another food idem I can use that would replace the amphbians such as fish or quail?
