This is what is considered to be a true classic "white oak" Gray rat. These are from northern Florida. Very light, silvery gray with clean gray background with slightly darker blotches.
This specimen was photographed by Bill Love and his friends while on a herping expedition.
Anyhow, like Jeff and I have already mentioned, it certainly isn't a "white oak" phase, or really ANY kind of Gray Rat for that matter, especially since you said it was red and the eyes were dark, thus it isn't an amel(albino form either).
Albino Black Rats can be a reddish tone, but you said it had dark pupils and irises, so it certainly isn't that either.
It is most likely a hybrid of some sort, with some percentage of some sort of ratsnake involved(maybe black even), but it is anyone's guess as to exactly what, and without lineage is just pure speculation and virtually impossible to say.
Hope this at keast helped a little bit..LOL!
best regards, ~Doug
