I think they're gorgeous, and would love to get a pair of ringeds like the ones Tom Keogan produces, which keep their brassy bands into adulthood. In a pet shop environment, though, you're probably seeing a lot of folks who don't know thing one about them, and are saying to themselves "_THAT_ much money for a little orange & black snake? Here, Jimmy - take a look at these milksnakes, they're just as colorful . . ."

Just the personal opinion of one guy with a few snakes. YMMV.
