Hatched this one out 8/31, only one egg from the clutch. Possible hybrid gray-band kingsnake... F2 CB 2003 Big Hill Gray-band kingsnake Lampropeltis alterna (x Male WC 2003 Alligator Alley Cornsnake Elaphe guttata). Here's the story of how this hatchling came to be... My male big hill GBK is a CB 2007 I obtained as a hatchling from Tim Gephard from Vivid Reptiles. The female Big Hill GBK was produced by Andrew Godambe and obtained as a hatchling in 2003. Got rid of my male 2003 GBK as my hatchlings were coming out kinked a large percentage of the time... an inbreeding effect I think as I never was told the relation of the 2003 GBK pair. I caught the male cornsnake as a jeuvenile in 2003 on Alligator Alley and kept him for his unique pattern. Thought the male GBK was too young to breed, so I put the female GBK in with the cornsnake just on the off chance... Left her in there for a couple weeks and put her back in her cage and put the male GBK in with her just on the off chance. Got 1 good egg and about 7 infertile egg masses. The 1 egg hatched and this is what came out. Hope the pictures upload... I'll try to post pictures of the adults ASAP, The big hill GBK's are typical of this locale with very intricate patterns, nothing like this one. Don't know where the zig-zag comes from either. Iris seems a bit orange tinged. Blotch count on this one makes me think hybrid as well.
