We have been raising this pair for about 3-4 years now. We picked them out of a shipment from Ghana that we brought in because they both showed the Pied Het Markers and we thought it would be a fun project to try. Well all 5 eggs have pipped and all babies are moving around in their eggs. We do not see any PIED's in the clutch so that rules that part of the project out. Now for the weird part. This female has never been bred with any male besides the male that bred her this season. In 2 of the eggs the babies are very light in coloration and have blushing like a pastel does but they are most def. not pastels. The one in the pic keeps coming about 1/3 out of the egg and its head and neck are totally blushed out. The other in the egg (on the right in the one pic has super blushed areas on its back that look like a super pastel. I have never seen another animal have the blushign like this besides a pastel/super pastel or a vanilla/super vanilla. While neither of the parents look like any vanilla I have ever seen could they be another expression of the Vanilla mutation? I guess I will have to wait until they are totally out of the eggs to get a really better look at them. Any thoughts on these little ones would be greatly appreciated. | ||
