GREAT day in PA

I finally had a nice day off after a whole sommer of crappy weather every time I wanted to get out in the field. Today made up for all the lost opportunities. I hit one of my old favorite timber rattler places, a rocky hollow about an hour walk from the road. The timbers were out everywhere! I saw a total of 23, a new record for myself for one day. In 30 years of looking for timbers, I have never seen a den site at the perfect time, when all the snakes were there. At one point I had about 12 of them within view at the same time. Some really nice big ones, too, and some piles of 3-4 coiled together. WOW!!

I did get wome nice shots with my new digital cam. I'll try and post a pic as soon as I figure out how!
