Where did the idea come from that people have been "releasing" Burmese Pythons into the wild?

Have there been any cases where a person was seen releasing their pet Burm that got too large for them to handle?

Do those that accuse Burm owners of releasing their unwanted pet have "PROOF????"

Isn't it more likely that they simply "escaped", rather than people driving out to the Everglades to release them? Isn't it more likely that Hurricane Andrew is the "main" cause of the python population?

Anyway, I don't understand why they're "assuming" that these animals were intentionally released into the wild. Especially, when it's more likely that it was caused by "accidental" escapes.
