The problem is ours alone and not with the animals because we have to have a neat little label for everything and in most cases nature is serving up something that is not playing by our "rules".



There are way too many examples where are animals are pigeon holed to a name that is really not a true reflection of that animal and especially in reference to it's neighbors, common ancestors, or closest living relatives.



Damon's post was right on the money. What if the Holotype had come from Terrell county? Then what would we call the animals in Freer and again the animals in Brewster county, or New Mexico?
