First off, forget the actual number... I don't even own one single hygrometer so I can't tell you the actual humidity level in any cage.

Soaking wet is too wet IMO, damp is fine. A proper cage with minimal ventilation will fix your humidity problems. The most common cause of low humidity is air exchange between the warm humid cage and the cooloer drier room air.

BTW, I almost never mist either except for newborn babies.
