I had a housefire once because I tried to cheap out on heating...never again. Lost a wonderful African bullfrog and the tegu whose cage burned. Did damage to a 6' vision that made it unusable too (the vision was right over the cage that start fire and began to get runny). Not to mention the carpet, damage to the walls, and the sheer scare of waking up to the fire alarm and being unable to breath.
