I've been keeping and breeding these guys for a few years now, and must say that intelligence and demeanor is definitely a factor. These snakes are very cool in their behavior, feeding, and individuality. With my experience, I've noticed that each one is distinct in its behavior and the way in which it interacts with its keeper.
As far as looks....eyebrows, man, eyebrows! Especially on young ones with very high contrast, they are a quality that cannot be overlooked. Just really cute! Also, there are some of us that are breeding for specific traits. Currently I'm working on getting the most high contrast babies possible with one female, and the brightest most orange babies with another.
Keep in mind, you probably won't fall in love with them at a show, unless the vendor really knows his babies and will take them out to show you some of their charm. I encourage you to either take the plunge yourself, or find someone nearby that will allow you to come over and interact with them to get the full experience.
