You may have something like this for your Temple Vipers. If not, see how easy it was to build this.



I put together a simple rain chamber for hydrating my Temple Vipers. I don’t know if you can properly maintain these guys without this.



It started when I spotted this three drawer storage unit at Big Lots for $11.00.

Here’s the finished project, no need to post a picture of this thing before I started the conversion. Actually, it didn’t take a whole lot to do this.







The middle drawer is the actual rain chamber where the snake goes.









The back of the drawer was a little flimsy and not snake proof, as you can see here it is easily pushed out.







To reinforce it, I added a strip of scrap starboard across the back, using screws and screw caps. Now the middle drawer can not be pushed out from inside. The white plastic screw caps make everything look neat.







There was also a gap at the top of each drawer on the sides so I added a strip of starboard for the middle drawer on each side to cover the gap.







I drilled a hole in the top and used a half inch hose barb with threaded male elbow. On the inside I screwed a coupling tight so the hose stays put. I notched the top drawer in the back so I can remove it without taking the fitting apart that sticks out inside.









This view of the side and back show just about everything. The small waterfall pump goes in the bottom. I drilled a hole for the cord and tubing and notched it so it can be removed easily. Use some clear half inch I.D. hose from the pump up to the top.



You can see the starboard added to reinforce the back and the piece added to close that little gap at the top of the middle drawer.

Water pours into the top drawer. The top drawer has about 120 very small holes drilled in the floor to make the rain drops. The snake drawer has fewer bigger holes in the floor to allow the “rain” water to drain into the bottom drawer with the pump, where it will recycle. Once you put about an inch and a half of water in the bottom, you just plug it in. Helpful hint: don't drill any holes near the front edge of the drawers so you can peek in without drips!











Oh yea, and add a snake!









They really love it!









The best part is how it is so easy to add and remove the snake!



This project cost about thirty dollars, including the pump, and took about an hour to start wetting the snake. Really easy.



Hope it inspires some to build a rain chamber for snakes that need this. My Temple Vipers don't drink any other way except misting them.
