Fluorescent lighting, no wonder none of them look great!   
For pics SCRAP the fluorescent lighting. Pick up four adjustable floodlight holders, try two GE reveal and two normal. Intermix those from above and behind you such that you do not throw a shadow when shooting. The ideal is to have the non-flash shot look very decent, not dark, then use minimal camera flash for fill light in the with flash shot.
