Great diagram-and probably in general accurate for wide-ranging, generalist snake species (for example, corn snakes in the southeast).
Now remove the overlap between the populations, and you have the situation that obtains with higher-altitude specialists like bairdi and alterna, and the reason these species are better candidates for locality breeding projects. ----- Brad Chambers
