If mdf isn't sealed extemly well ANY moisture will make it swell. It also will probably need support around the edges of each shelf if there is going to be much weight on them. Screws or nails tend to spit mdf when shot in the sides of it. I use 1/2 inch plywood for all my enclosures. It holds up better. Stronger and less water problems
