"According to a spokesperson for the Center for Disease Control (CDC), about 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs each year. Approximately 386,000 of those end up in the hospital, and 16 die."

Americans bitten by dogs... "16 die"...EACH YEAR

This was in a recent article on certain dog breeds being banned on military bases. Unfortunately, there's not citation to go with the quote.
