Katrina

Firt off I'm not anti-dog. I've had at least one dog for the last 25 years.

Having said that what is more amazing than the shear numbers is WHO is being killed.

With dogs over 90% of the time it is a stranger or at least NOT the primary caretaker. Usually a stranger or an innocent.

Compared to deaths by big snakes it is almost always the primary caretaker who dies. That is why the little girl was so tragic she was an innocent. But typically deaths involving big snakes occur at feding time or during the process of some medical or husbandry procedure. This implies the death would happen to the owner or primary caretaker.

It is our choice as big snake owners. We know they are potentially dangerous animals and we accept that.

As opposed to a child or older person walking down a street and being attacked by an escaped dogs.

Couple this with the horrible injuries that can be incurred with dog bites where the victim survives and there really is no discussion over which group of animals is more dangerous.

And I like dogs. D.C.
