Sorry to hear that. All you can do is move forward.
I know for a fact at least one of my 2005 babies were incorrectly sexed by employees being paid to sex the lot at one of the largest herp stores in California. It happens. Now "Rose" goes by "Rosco". Since then I've learned to sex them myself, does that mean 100% accuracy - probably not!!
There are inhereent problems with every sexing method....
Probing - not enough pressure and you can get a false female, too much presssure and you can damage sex organs even to the point of false Male.
Popping - not enough pressure and again false female. Don't know for sure but I believe too much pressure and again can damage organs. Not likely that I know of to get a false male.
Palpation - Not enough pressure or non-sensitive finger tips and false female again. I can see where to much pressure could damage but not likely as palpation uses so little actual pressure.
In all three cases IMO it's much more likely to think a male is a female than the other way around. Unfortunate as we all would rather have an extra female than an extra male.
When I have not been bit enough recently, I resex the female babies to see if I missed any males. ----- Thanks,
Dave Colling
