I don't appreciate USARK and it's members giving false or misleading information such as the following to get me to support their agenda. If you need help supporting something then it should be made very clear what we are being asked to do. The amendment was done in October and if the agreement in principal still needed done or support not to include more snakes to the list, just say so. I don't mind supporting other herpers and keeping the right to have snakes but this is over the top. I expect an organization I donate money to to help protect my interests not to deceive people with misleading info. Unfortunately I do not think I will continue to donate to this organization in the future.

USARK BLOG October 17th
Fortunately USARK was able to convince Congressman Tom Rooney of Florida, who is championing this Bill in the House Judiciary Committee, to offer an amendment to H.R. 2811 limiting the scope of the Bill. H.R. 2811 was subsequently amended striking the genus python and inserting ONLY the Burmese Python and African Python. Committee staff also agreed in principle to further amend the Bill to allow for the captive bred trade and export of these animals to continue. USARK has provided language to Committee staff to further amend H.R. 2811 to reflect this agreement. As of today no additional amendments have been offered.

Say bye bye to your Pythons and maybe your Boas too.

If the legislators considering HR2811 make their decision strictly based upon the calls made Monday and Tuesday this week, say bye bye to your right to breed and sell Pythons. The number of calls coming in has been absolutely pathetic. This isn’t some obscure extreme interest group meeting talking about whether or not they will try take away our right to keep Pythons. This is the US House of Representatives and they are as serious as a heart attack about this legislation. Though we had a previous commitment to a minimal alteration of our right to keep our animals, the extremists are pushing to have the entire genus python put back into the language of this bill, and added to the list of species regulated under the Federal Lacy Act. You have got to be heard!

USARK post October 30th
Please join the Reptile Nation in a Congressional Call In Opposing HR2811 aka The Python Ban November 2, 3 & 4. If you value your Boas & Pythons you will participate and encourage your entire sphere of influence to do the same. There is a Hearing in front of the House Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism & Homeland Security scheduled for November 5th. Please call in and OPPOSE HR2811.
