thanks for the replies boys. That option you gave dave, is i think the best one, and one i have already thought about. It seems may be the only way, if having a conventional style lock. ie putting a whole thru the centre part.

The biggest problem with the cages, is that the glass is just not long enough, and i really dont want to buy all new glass for each cage. Plus the fact, the glass cannot be replaced without removing the roof. This isnt such a big problem, if i say have one bit of glass get broken, but having to replace 8 cages, is well annoying
