Very small holes are useful...especially with heat packs. The heat packs require oxygen to 'feed' the chemical reaction to produce heat which can deplete the oxygen in the box after awhile. So depending on the size of the box, the type and number of heat packs and number of snakes, a totally sealed box can quickly run out of oxygen.

I think a few small holes along the lower sides, shouldn't cause massive heat escape, but will allow some air through...two holes per side (ie 2-4 sides across from eachother) is sufficient.
