I will try my best and hopefully someone will jump in and correct me if I am wrong.

>>so all i understand is there was a hearing the other day, slanted against us, they want to ban 9 species now,

This bill adds the 9 species to the Lacey Act. If passed, it would mean that the 9 species (which does not include ball pythons) could not be imported, bought/sold or moved across state lines without a Federal permit. My understanding is that permits will be provided for educational and research purposes.

>>1. was it voted on??????

No, this was a subcommittee hearing designed to gather information.

>>2. if not when will it be????

No one knows yet.

>>3. what is the next step in this process?????

No one knows yet. The bill is stuck in the Congressional land of subcommittee quagmires. They have gathered their information at the last hearing and now those representatives can 1) call for another hearing for more info, 2) dismiss the bill, 3) send through to the US House of Rep for a vote.

>>4. if they do vote on this and ban the 9 species what happens???? ive heard it takes 3yrs to become actual law, does that mean those 9 species would still be legal for the next 3yrs??? or could they arrest someone with them day after it passes?

First it has to go through this subcommittee, then pass in the House, then pass in the Senate, then get the Presidential signature. Who knows how long that could take.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the issue of animals that are already in possession. No one has addressed that issue yet.
