I have four breeding pairs this season: normal x pastel, normal (jungle)x pastel, pastel x pastel, and het pied x het pied. I lowered their temps for a few weeks before I put males and females together and all are breeding EXCEPT the het pieds. Last season the het pieds were together and bred like rabbits, almost constantly, until the male apparently lost interest and I assumed the female was pregnant, but she never laid eggs. They both went back to their normal routine for the rest of the year. When it started getting cooler I lowered their temp just as I did with the others and put them together. This season the male has not shown any interest in the female. Could she still be holding his sperm from last season? Could she still produce eggs from last season breeding?

What's the longest time a female has gone between the last confirmed copulation and egg laying?

Should I do anything? I have another male het pied, maybe I should try putting him with the het pied female?
