I let mine go for as long as they want. My two adult breeders were "free range" so to speak. One spent their brumation under a bird tree in my bird room, the other in the closet in my dragon room. When I came home and they were waiting for me at the top of the stairs, I considered them done. Two years in a row, they escaped from their bins and went to the same spot. They were both safe and sound, so I left them. This year, the female is in her closet already.
