A few things to keep in mind.
Size is more a factor of genetics and feeding, than it is locality. Yes, Brazilians tend to stay smaller, but I've also seen 4' adult Guyanese BCC as well. I've also heard of larger Brazilians too - 8' or so. Then again, there are VERY RARE cases of 10-12' Guyanese BCC.
The recommendations you've received by other members is spot-on, buy from a reputable breeder to ensure you receive the best quality.
Adult size, color, and contrast are something you should be looking to the breeder to help you with. Be sure you ask for pictures of the parents to get a good idea of how your boa will turn out. You'll also want to see pictures of the animals siblings to see how it compares in terms of color and contrast at an early age. Realize that the more alike the parents and grandparents are in terms of size, color, contrast, and consistency of pattern, the more alike the babies will be as they mature into adults. The more disparate they parents and grandparents are, the more variability you'll see in the litter as they mature into adults.
Finally, if you purchase your boa as a baby from a breeder with small to average sized adults, your experience will grow along with your animal as it matures into a small to average sized adult itself. It takes 4-6 or 7 years for a BCC to reach it's adult size. That's plenty of time for your learning curve and comfort level to adjust.
jb ----- What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously
