here is the response letter I got today.

Dear, Mr. Grosart

Thank you for contacting ,me about the Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act ( H.R. 669) I appreciate hearing from you and share your support for the protection of our natural environment.

As you may know H.R. 669 would require the Secretary of the Interior to establish a process for assessing the risk of all nooative wildlife species propose for importation into the United States. This legislation would set prohibitions on:

-importation or transportation between states of nonnative species that are not included in the list of approved spcies;

-permit violations; and

-possession, purchase, sale, barter, release or breeding of such species.

The bill is designed to prevent the introduction and establishment of nonnative wildlife species in the United States that may have a negative impacet on the economy, the environment, human health or native wildlife. To be clear H.R. 669 would require the Federal Government to assessthe risk of non-native wildlife species proposed for importation and, With public input, decide if the importation of these animals should be allowed or prohibited.

The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act has been referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources. While I am not a member of that Committee, I will keep your thoughts in mind should this legislation come to the house floor for a vote.

I always appreciate hearing from constituents, like you, who are informed and interested about issues affecting Arizona and the nation. My job as your repressntative is to help you connect with federal agencies, acess services and get your questions answered thoroughly. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if you require assistance.

Sincerely Yours,

Gabrielle Giffords
