Thanks Kevin for such an well articulated and informative reply. I'm sure many newer keepers will enjoy your insights and older keepers will concur.
At this point I am more of a collector guy...meaning, I'm interested in having certain snakes for their appeal, be it color, behavior, rarity whatever. I am aware that as a breeder I would need to find homes (preferably warmer than a freezer) for lots of snakes and it seems that for many species, particularly that ones I tend to like, the market is pretty low. So, my snakes are pretty much pets and that works for me.
As for Moses...great feeder, super calm to handle but not an especially curious snake...he cruises in his enclosure trying to get out, but when he does get to go out he holes up in a dark corner and pretty much stays there. I suspect that his early life didn't present much stimulation.
