Of the 4 CA gopher ssp I've come across (never seen pumilis) Pacifics and Sonorans always seem to have the most attitude, annectens are the spazziest and Great Basins, IMHO, seem to be the friendliest. I'm sure other folks have some differing opinions and experiences.
