I didn't see any of this, but I think I have a pretty good idea of whats transpired. Don't know either of them or know of them, either.
It's best described as a personality disorder. People like that just can't help embellishing the story. Once they realize the spotlight is on them, they just take off/loose control. Unprofessional? Yes. Irresponsible and immature? Probably. It's simply a matter of making themselves more important in the audience's eyes, with telling their tall tails. It's just a matter of telling whoppers to build ones self esteem.
We've all heard the ridiculous story from the novice as soon as they hear we're into snakes. They've just got to share the folklore/legend/myth. But of course it happened to them. I can always get a fix on a novice when they relate their experience with snakes. Sometimes it's hard to keep a straight face. For me, it's really hard not to just tell them to their face, that they are full of it.
Truly bad judgment by the producers to include/produce such content. It reflects badly on their credibility, if that even matters.
Maybe its all about money with them too, and they don't really care if they are hacks or not.
