I Plan to do a lot hunting in the outback this year (camping non-protected public lands), and the bottom line is how many batteries I want to carry around. It seems to make sense to save the money and get the regular Apex, and carry the extra batteries in my camelback. In the end though, I might just break down and get the 8 AA Apex model. And Lance, you are right, I plan in bringing a flashlight just the same.

I find that the flashlight running along with the headlamp is way better... use both at once, worth the extra battery you have to burn. ----- ___________________________
