Perfectly normal for this species. With frequent gentle handling youngsters (the most prone to these displays) will clam down nicely.

My thread about Miss Hissy Spits. I have 11 pituophis and this little girl has had the most attitude but is calming down; didn't even hiss when I picked her up this morning to put her in her feeding jar.
