Thats not correct. Its definately possible.

Most airlines have shipping departments (like fedEX) within their company that ship packages (like fedEX) on their commercial flights for this exact purpose on a constant basis. Most of the belly on many commercial flights is the extra cargo, not passenger baggage. You will never get your snake in the compartment above you on the plane, but then again you can't do it with most dogs either. They all go underneith...on any sane flight.

I just came back a couple of months ago with an adult ball python in a heated package in a heated cargo bay right under me. I picked it up an hour so after I got off my flight.

So it all depends on who you choose and where you are going.

AIR CANADA LIVE CARGO POLICY.

Where are you headed? There are regulations on some U.S. state commercial flights but I had no restrictions within Canada and had many options for the U.S. at that time.

Heres the air canada policy link for LIVE cargo. They have some regulations to follow but its clearly stated that they can do it. If you can't choose them they might help you find another airline.
