Those counts are good, sometimes even 8 scales on a male. In the early years I have bought females that were not and have heard many other people with the same problem. I often see males for sale with the story "well it turned out to be a male".

We probe to be sure when they have a bit of size on them, why risk being wrong. The smallest probe and a steady hand and you can be sure of the sex.
