Actually, they were not actively moderating the comments over the entire weekend. On Sunday, at least. The editorial staff was closed for business. They dumped them all at the beginning of business on Monday. Look at the time stamps. They're basically all the same time for Monday morning.

Look at the time stamp for my actual post. They went from #35 to my post #147 and others all in one dump at around 9:57am Monday. My point being, the time stamp is misleading and somewhat erroneous on the apparent back and forth nature of the blog, that's all.

The Burmese Python is a Florida issue. There is no evidence Burmese Pythons will travel across the country and invade as far North as New York City as is claimed. It's all "Snakes on a Plane" scare tactics. The shame of it is, the Pythons will really never make it to Washington D.C., where they might do some good.

Nor, has it been proven the Burmese Python in South Florida is damaging and detrimental to the environment. One or two anecdotal incidences of predation doesn't amount to proof. The fact is, more unwanted dumped feral cats do much more damage to the ecosystem than any other animal. This is documented. Who's to say the ecosystem isn't better off with the Burmese Pythons preying upon feral cats or feral hogs?

How does one species in one state suddenly become nine species in the entire country? I ask you? There is absolutely NO EVIDENCE this issue warrants the restraint of free trade NATIONWIDE for the NINE species targeted by USF&W. Nothing but a cash cow for special interest groups (Government funding/earmarks for more studies, among other things).

Simply a matter of our elected officials [and Cabinet Members] pretending to be doing something on our behalf, when they're really not. Why don't they address a few of the more pressing issues our country faces today? I'll tell you why. They'd rather play that political shell game. So much easier and so much safer to scapegoat a subject that is very maligned and misunderstood by the public, in the first place, rather than to show the political courage and will required to tackle the real issues our county faces.
