His offspring pretty much look black, though as you all know there is some variability with color and pattern even when "solid" black parents are bred togather. The second photo is offspring that the pairing in my post produced in 2008. I cooled the snake this past winter so she's only about 3 feet long. I'm hoping to breed her back to the brown male next year to see if brown is a simple recessive genetic trait. I know brown black pines exist in the wild, but I am wondering if it's hypomelanism (like hypo corns which are sometimes found in nature). I bought the brown male as an adult, so I don't know what it looked like as a hatchling. | ||
