I've been in the same situation as you. As far as getting another boa, I'd recommend Dumeril's Boa. They are totally mellow, and the males are typically 6ft when full grown. Additionally, the care requirements are really straightforward. 70-85 degree temperature range (they prefer to hang out at about 83 degrees). It's best to keep them between 40-60% humidity, but can handle much lower (I used to live in Las Vegas). Anyhow, best of luck balancing your wife and your snakes. Below are pictures of my Dumeril's.
