Back in the 60's and 70.s, there was breeding only by luck. No one had the knowledge, and only zoos were doing anything , and they wouldn't discuss it with the public sector. After awhile, the public sector had more money and was able to do more and better work with rare animals, and the zoos were finally surpassed in their breeding knowledge. The formation of the IHS, the International Herpetological Symposiums, started by Richard Hahn, (they continue today) bridged the gap between the public and zoological institutions.
