Why would anyone want to do it??? Who knows... I guess you can ask anyone who breeds hybrids why they do so... My guess is to create something new and different looking...
Years ago I bred Gaboon/rhino viper hybrids... In my opinion that was not a bad thing to do as this is a natural hybrid and happens quite commonly where their ranges over lap...
Some speculate that hybrids usually adapt well and turn out to be stonger breeders than either pure parent species...
It is also well documented that hybridization is responsible for creating new species... It is like hitting the fast foward button on the evolutionary VCR...
I do not agree with all hybridization BUT, in my opinion, not all hybrids are a bad thing in our hobby... In captivity we throw natural selection out the window anyway... To be true purists in this hobby would mean we would not keep these animals in cages or bins and we would just be observing them in their natural habitat... We would not be doing the breeding selction for them... Nature would be doing so...
None of us can say that producing hybrids is bad, un-natural, or un-ethical... What we do is not very natural either...
