I remember many years ago when I was a member of the Chameleon Information Network (who ended up being a bunch of kooks in the end.) They had an article about raising your own wax moths in one of their newsletters. You basically added honey and a couple of other things to bran flakes. They recommended that you cook the mixture up before adding the wax moth larvae. The cooking was recommended because it would kill the eggs of some grain weevils which would hatch and make a mess of your cultures. I do seem to remember that I did it once with out cooking and this proved to be absolutely correct. At the time I was working at the humane society with a good handful of these vegan whackos so I was quite amused at this discovery as it confirmed what I knew all along. There is no such thing as an animal protein free diet. Just because the animal may border on being microscopic doesn't mean it is not an animal. An arthropod is an arthropod also so as far as I am concerned if they think it is okay to eat grain weevils then lobsters and crayfish and crabs are fair game as well.

I used to get a kick out of screwing with them with stuff like that.
