Don't like the church fish edict, but what people eat and how they treat their animals is a cultural thing. It is amazing what some cultures find gastronomically appealing. Some culture treat animals terribly. Some cultures are extreme in the other direction. Of course there are varying degrees and sects within cultures. People around here keep their dogs chained or let them run wild. I don't agree with either. Same old AR/PETA arguments. What is OK with one individual is horrific to another and vice versa. It's all cultural bias. Simple as that.

Eating more fresh fruit and vegetables is definitely a good thing.

The Mediterranean Diet is probably the best health-wise.

As far a humans eating meat, it's pretty much the same dietary model of the typical Red-eared Slider. More meat protein when growing to maturity. Same during reproductive periods. Less meat in later years. Old age is less total intake.

My personal philosophy on what meat to eat generally goes like this --- No carnivores, nothing with canine teeth, Pork an exception. Personally, I don't care for organ meat, but I take plenty of dietary supplements to compensate.
