hello, i went camping and hiking in the everglades national park last weekend. it was very cool! wish i had a better camera and had been able to go when it was a little cooler before the skeeters and no-see'ums were out in mass quantities. oh, well... it's a good thing to be saturated with deet for 3 days straight right? lol

a couple cool finds. it was my first wild pigmy rattler. i'm not sure how common they are, but i felt really privileged to find him.

i saw a larger rattler, but he crawled off into the bushes on the side of the trail before i could get a pic. my first instinct was to go right in after him. i thought about the fact that i was about an hour hike back to the truck and then an hour drive to the nearest town....and left him alone. lol i have been told repeatedly that i am too stupid to be afraid when i should be. guess for once i proved them wrong although i think it was more a matter of common sense and respect. anyway....

pigmy rattler

black racer. they were abundant...

dragon fly

millipede. i saw them up to about 6 inches.

i call these "holy birds" cause it looked like they were walking on water. lol

a hawk just chillin

a gnarly looking tree that i found.

hope you enjoy the pics. i know i enjoyed taking them

jonathan
