Shedding question

I'm just curious, I recently got a pastel male breeder from a local guy. He hasnt eaten in the two weeks I have gotten him. (i'm not worried or shocked about this just yet) He seems to have settled in and I havent messed with him, so I'm wondering.. Since he has been here for two weeks, and according to the breeder, has been off and on feeding since the breeding season. I checked him out today and he is pinking up for a shed. Could this be the reason he isnt eating as well, or do balls normally eating reg go off feed much later than this.
Like I said, he's a ball, and he hasn't been here that long, so I'm not too worried about him not eating, but was just curious.
