So, I read what was on both of the sites you put up, and I am baffled. They're only trying to regulate importation? There's nothing on there about ownership. So, let's say you buy something from a show and bring it home, or have it shipped...since I can't imagine they've got the budget to have someone sitting at the post office opening packages...how the heck do they plan on enforcing it? Showing up at your house and saying, "Did you import those?" Um, no officer, they've always been mine. Or, say you just moved there and the same situation happens. "Nope, sure didn't bring them from that other state, bought them all here in lovely NM, have a nice day". (Again assuming they have the money/time/effort to roll up at every pet owners home in NM. Which if they do, I obviously need to be on the NM government payroll)



What would be the point of putting through this kind of superfluous legislation? Either NM has too much time and money on their hands OR they think this is going to solve their budget issues. It will of course do neither. The only place I see getting screwed in this are pet stores, and I SERIOUSLY doubt Petsmart or Petco are going to stand by and watch as they now have to pay a fee everytime they have an animal shipment come in. I hope this won't go far, but it will definitely be interesting to watch unfold.
