I've gone otu the last three weekends...seen more amphibians than usual which is nice, but not a lot of lizards and NO SNAKES! Not one!

The guy from Montana's having better luck than the guy from Texas...that's just wrong.
Went to what looked like a very promising area today...large rock formation, lots of nooks and crannies.
There may have been herps there...but there were DEFINITELY widows. I saw maybe 2 dozen and said screw it I'm getting out of here. I can handle spiders but widows are a bit much. Lots of egg sacks too. Ever nook I tried to look into...a visible black widow or web. Flipped some rocks...jumping spiders, some interesting beetles (which were neat)...but no herps.
I just spend 3-4 hours and saw, herp wise *one* checkered whiptail. Friday I found 3 or 4 S. undulatus and some leopard frogs and a B. punctatus.

I'm getting frustrated and had to vent.
