My son and I were out doing some herping here in Ventura, CA and we came across this interesting lizard. Looks like a relative of the collared lizard...non keeled/spiny scales and the body structure, but brown patternless dorsal. However, this is not in collared lizard range either. I tried to grab it for closer inspection and pics, but no luck.

We also came across this unusually tame Western Fence Lizard.

Finally, we located this ground squirrel burrow where young were popping out and allowed us to get close enough for some pics.
