"The PA black rats, at least the ones I've seen around here, are real nice. They get jet black and big. If I get any this summer I'm thinking of keeping them."

I am too.
I have a coal black 6 1/2' male I've been wanting to get a mate for. We had them in our area when I was a kid (way, way back)but were driven out.
Alot of habitat has been restored since then and the woods behind my home is overrun with deer mice and a multitude of frog species that could support a population of them. My male is from a gene pool close by and I'd like to find a female that is too in the interest of keeping a repopulation as proper as I can. No luck as yet with an adult. All I've found are young that are a long ways off from breeding.
Not being a canable and with a primarily rodent/bird diet they wouldn't threaten the coastal plains milk population we have either so I really want to give it a go.
Hey sooner or later an adult female will turn uo right?
Mike.
